Benefits of the Media

Japan Earthquake-2011

Those were all the negative ways the media influences us like human beings, however, the media also has a positive influence on us. The media and technology is how we are able to communicate with other people in the world. The media makes us aware of our surroundings, without it we would not be fully aware of other things going on in the world that could eventually affect us. If there’s conflicts going on in the world, watching the news and the reporters report these often impulses people to act and help those in need. For example, right now there are riots and conflicts going on in the Middle-East, we are aware of these due to the media and news; if it weren’t for these we would probably have no clue about what was going on. Thanks to these, people have decided to help those people seeking freedom. Another example is what happened recently in Japan. Japan was struck with an earthquake, thanks to the media we were made aware of this just a few hours after the incident. People and organizations were then able to send aid to the victims of this earthquake. An older example of this is during the civil rights movement. The media and news would report police attacks on African Americans fighting for their rights. Watching their non-offensive response, some white people joined African Americans and together they fought for equal rights for everyone. This proved to be a big success, and all thanks to the media’s reports.Overall it really depends on how you use the media; if you use it to learn from others' mistakes then it won't be a bad influence, if you get easily influenced by all the negative things on it then the media will have a negative influence on you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x55YzxPKVSw

The Media & Politics

Although the media does affect celebrities and their lives, it also plays a big part of politicians and politics. Like we’ve learned in our history textbooks, every President of the U.S. has tried to lead its country to wealth, power, and success. As human beings we all make mistakes, however, the media has often times exaggerated these. This has made us feel insecure, unrest, and discontent with our government. We have to realize that not everything we watch or listen to is real. The media has never been 100% accurate; either it distorts the government or hides any “shady deals” going on in the government from the public. An example of this is the Cold War. During the 50’s and 60’s the media and newspapers exaggerated the events going on between the U.S. and Soviet Union. This only grew greater tensions between the two and was one of the factors why they couldn’t solve their differences. However, many of the international affairs the U.S. was involved in we’re barely mentioned for fear of the discontent of the government. How are we supposed to trust and rely on the media when it’s inaccurate and lies to us? This is still seen today, we think the media is telling the 100% truth but we never know if what we’re hearing or watching is true. We don’t know if the media is hiding something from us but until the media proves to be veridical we can’t completely trust it.http://www.politics-media.blogspot.com/

Influence of Media in History

Cold War- U.S. vs. Soviet Union
Biase of media on history
Is it ok to blame some of our world problems on the media? I think yes. Throughout the years we as humans can’t seem to get along with each other. We’re constantly having problems and conflicts, either among us or with other countries. Just when things seem to be getting better and problems seem to a close end- BAM! Things worsen and the faith for hope collapses. Why does this occur? The mass media, that’s why.  Although the media does provide us with helpful information at the same time it influences how we behave with each other. Sometimes instead of helping us solve our problems it influences them in a bad way and worsens them. This is especially true when it comes to diplomatic relations with other countries. Instead of cooperating towards peace and unity, the media sometimes accomplishes the opposite and stirs things up into a huge mess. Other times the media distorts our learning. It "teaches" us about events in the past to its own advantage. We believe these facts to be true and grow up believing these things and base our values off of these. However, the media sometimes biases history and we might not even know about it.

Let Celebrities Have a Normal Life

Although the media tries to make famous people look like they’re perfect, sometimes it goes to the extreme and makes them look like absolute trash. I know I just said the media needs to stop lying about celebrities but sometimes celebrities live modest lives and the media destroys these. The paparazzi constantly follow famous people and invade their privacy. This causes celebrities to lose their temper but who wouldn’t after being followed every second of their life?  Sometimes the media doesn’t have any interesting news to share to the world but this doesn’t mean that they’re going to make people’s lives impossible and start making things up. These “lies” often stain someone’s reputation and that’s hurtful. Famous people are also humans like us, they need their privacy. Yeah, some of the things the media reports about famous people doing inappropriate things are right, whether they’re acting like sluts or thugs, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is living that kind of life. If they are then by all means go report it, if they’re not then they need to stop. The media has caused so many problems to celebrities by doing this that it has often times caused the separation between their families and love. Could you image being separated by your loved ones just because of the media? I couldn’t live my life like that! The media needs to state the facts but they need to make sure they’re not harming celebrities and their lives.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ6wMIKnplY

One of the reasons why so many people especially teenagers follow the media is because it looks appealing to the eye. The media makes celebrities and models seem like a paragon and example for every teen to follow if they want to be the best looking and most successful in life. What people don’t realize is that celebrities and models aren’t like they appear to be. Not all of them live happy lives without problems. Yeah they have a lot of money and have everything they want, but fame changes them. The media often times makes them into egocentric and selfish people. Soon these traits make them feel isolated and empty from the real world and often end up doing drugs. What kind of parent or person would want their kid or relative following this type of lifestyle? I’m pretty sure no one would. While appearing to live a fairytale deep inside famous people feel empty and discontent with themselves. Teens fall for these “happy” images of celebrities and become devoted fans. They feel like that’s the perfect image to follow, they become so obsessed that they want to look and act exactly like they do. Yeah we all make mistakes but they can be avoided, however, the media is doing the opposite by making teens fall for the same mistakes celebrities are. The media needs to show famous people for who they are, they shouldn’t make them look like something they’re not.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgUE4BeWM-g&feature=related

Influence of the Mass Media on Humans

After living in this world for 15 years, if there’s something I’ve noticed more than anything is how much we as humans get influenced by the media.  This isn’t necessarily bad but some people seem to live their life according to the media. This is frankly getting quite annoying! People are no longer independent, now they depend on something to tell them how to live their life. There’s only one solution people need to stop being followers!
